I am really looking for a black tang and found a website that has one but is questioning their "black tang" it looks more like a scopas tang. Let me know what you think. Black tang or Scopas Tang?

A true black tang is soild black with a thin line of blue run along the top of its body. And they start at about $500.

Scopas tang. Even juvi BLT are all black. Also the nose seems too short. How big is it and how much are they looking to get for it? By the way, it's still a beautiful fish. I love Zebrasomas

that one in the pic is 100% scopas , real black tangs go somewhere in the upper 400 range. There out there if you want to fork up 500 plus to your door .

that is the most underratted zebrasoma, scopas. its much more beautiful then a balck tang IMO, but no "cool" factor i guess. scopas has an iridescent purplish hue when viewed at the right angle, you can't see it in pics.

Well I went to their website and the first thing I see is a picture that is a default wallpaper from mac (clowns in a green anemone), not even their own product

I looked at the site and the pic under this one of the all black tang is the real deal. I'd send them an E-mail and let them know the error. If they truely want to sell BLT's they better get the right pics and ship the correct fish. Nobody will pay $500 for a scopas. JNye, I couldn't agree more. Love the scopas.

hahahaha! yup thats the craziest yellow angel i ever seen! the fact that the description states how it can nip at SPS shows me how confused they are between fresh & salt angels! oh man, to be honest, i wouldn't order, but its up to you. black tangs can be found at less confused sites im sure

A true black tang or (veliferum rostratum) Is completly black. His scientific name mean :veliferum= in latin means sail,Rostratum= means facial. wich you can see the difference from all the other sailfin tangs. The difference is that the black tang is also know as the longnose black tang. His nose is alot longer than that of any other tang of its same family. So the fish that you have in the pictue above has a short nose and is not back wich means it is not a black tang .It is a Scopas tang also know as a brown tang. hopes this helps.

If there are that many problems with correct ID and confusing fresh and marine fish, I'd avoid this company like an unprotected night of fun with Courtney Love.

Hi everyone. I work in customer care at Sea Life Direct and I just wanted to point out that I fixed the discrepancy regarding the Black Tang. Our site recently went online and we weren't taking orders while we were working on fixing up the little details. We are taking orders now and although we have a great product at great prices the site still needs a few adjustments.
If you have the time and don't mind, feel free to point out any discrepancies that you may find on our site. Also if you have any questions for me feel free to ask and I will get them answered. Like I said I work in customer care so I don't know everything about the product but I can definitely find out for you.
If you do browse our site I'm sure that you will find beautiful fish (from Hawaii) at very competitive prices and also competitive sales policies.
Thanks and I look forward to becoming a contributing member of this forum in the future and learning from all of you as well.
