alright, we all know and use different kinds... what do you currently use and why? since my frag tank is gonna fairly small, I'd like to know which plugs are the best to use when adding multiple frag plugs at a time... I use to like ceramic plugs but prefer the ones Boston Aqua Farms now..

why use frag plugs at all? live rock rubble worked great, looks natural and makes it easy to place in your reef.

I use argonite frag tiles from Ocean Wonders and have started to use 1" marble tiles that I got from a tile store on ebay. Its only 8.99 for a sheet of 144 tiles and they ship them for free. hehe Corals seem to be happy with them so far. I never use round plugs since tiles are so much more space efficient.

When I do use plugs I use the BAF ones. I prefer to use LR pieces when I can though.

I use a band saw and slice pieces of tonga branch if i want a flat disk. I absolutely despise the boston plugs so i've switched back to pieces of live rubble.

The ocean wonders tiles are really great. But I would soak them in RO water for a week or two before using them because I think the argonite mix can bleach frags from raising the ph around them if they're not soaked for awhile first. The ones that I have soaking now actually created a hard calcium crust over the water's surface. My marble tiles actually are usable a lot faster and much cheaper. lol But I can't find 1.5" marble tiles, just 1" and 2".

We've been using gooch's ceramic ones and coral cradles lately. In fact, just ordered a couple thousand of gooch's yesterday.
:)

I don't have a nifty shot of gooch's, but I have a nifty shot of the CC's:

Wasn't BAF making a new type of plug? I went to look on their site, but only see the Aragocrete ones. Maybe I'm mixing up stories... Are the BAF one's you're using these days the Aragocrete ones?

the ora ones are off the hook for SPS...they are the same as their signature plugs (black with ORA embossed), but they are plain blue...they have a huge cup you fill with glue, and youre good to go. I love them.

As for everything else...i either use the ceramic plugs, or tonga branch i cut in thin plates. However with tonga shut down, im going to have to find another type. pretty sweet when you stack a bunch of different sizes and then put an encrusting coral on them. You get some really cool shapes.

Coral Cradles for me, they have more ways to attach different types of corals.
The ones on the left are white Coral Cradles and have covered with coraline in about a month.

They also have different colors like the new Charcoal that I just started using, blends in so you don't see the plug. (second pic)
