Sweet Rics.......That last one isn't a rainbow but a true pink in low light. If you give that thing as much light as it can handle it will turn super bright pink. I have a thread with my rics, the brightest Florida ric you will ever see is in that thread of my pics. The super bright pink one will turn exactly like yours in low light and in high light it will be like it is in those pics of mine.....That color morph is absolutly my favorite...

Thanks Az, and may I say WOW and WOW again in regards to your tank! That is absolutely gorgeous! Excellent on the pink, my inclination was to do the exact opposite, and keep it low and shadowed, thanks so much for piping up! Really appreciate the input. May have to talk to you about some fl ricordia colors I don't have.

they look great! lots of new ones splitting off

Thanks Salty, these are about a year old at this point, and I'm just starting to see some splitting. Not reproducing quite as fast as I was expecting, but they seem to be good and healthy.

No problem bro.....Quite a few of those rics I lost due to a protozoa outbreak, by the time I figured it out and started dipping I lost about half my collection. I still have quite a few and adding all the time but have slowed down a little bit cause of winter and economics....Yours should start to take off, do you feed? I have had 50/50 luck getting Florida's to feed I do dose the tank with AAs though and that has seemed to help a bit in the health. I also have them in a bit more flow then most people suggest.

I would move the pink up slowly and let it get acclimated every time you move it. I actually lost the super bright pink last week. It popped off the rock and into the rock work and I pulled a bunch out but couldn't find it. Luckily for me I had fragged it a couple months ago and have 2 baby polyps of it.......Keep up the good work man and your collection will be taking off before you know it....

I have been feeding with cyclopeeze - but like you said; I don't know really how much they actually feed (I do spot feed them when I feed, and they close up, but don't know if its cause they are feeding or because of the current). What is AAs? Mine are actually about 2" below the return nozzels and there is a hydor #2 right above the rock they are on, so they get pretty heavy indirect flow. I've noticed that they've perked up a lot since I started dosing Kalk, which I wasn't doing previously, and someone also told me they need regular iodine supplement - which I have started doing (I do test iodine to make sure I stay in the proper range). Appreciate the kind words and the advice. Sorry to hear about your pink - I seem to have lost two limeade ricordia polyps into my rock work, so I sympathize, but they're nothing like the pink - ouch!

looks like a great start. i have always loved florida rics

PS: i suggest you get that xenia out of that area. If it gorws anything like mine always has they will very quickly over take the ric area. Fast growing tall corals growing around low lying slow growing coral never is a good idea

gl to ya

Thanks EliteReefs - LOL, yeah, I would say my xenia grows about like yours; those are two new frags I started but haven't moved to the frag tank yet - will here shortly. Thanks for the input.

AAs= Amino acids...

Ah, thanks Az. I saw in the vitamen C, thread that someone was simply breaking apart over the counter A.A. gell caps and dumping the contents into their sump. Any recommended dosage on this? and how often are you dosing?

NOt sure on those......I dose Fuel by Seachem it's thier premium stuff sold only in LFSs. I dose a inner cap full 2x a week. The inner cap full I think is 2ml and is what the lable says to dose for 60g. Its like 1 inner cap for 30g so I double it, I also every other feeding add one inner cap full to the mysis, daphnia, and reef plankton and let it set for about a 1/2 hour then feed the fish and corals.....I tried feeding my Florida rics today and nothing, while my Yumas closed up instantly and you could see the mouth sucking in mysis....

Excellent; I'll have to see if my LFS can order (since I know they don't have it). Never thought about the soaking thing, that sounds like an excellent idea. Thanks Az.
