Hi, new to this forum and new to the saltwater side of the aquarium hobby. I just bought my first tank to be made into a saltwater coral reef tank. I went out and purchased a 180 gallon tank. I am completely lost with the plumbing of the sump and what size sump to use. I have a 55 gallon sump that was given to me and also a 40 gallon breeder that was given to me as well. I can't afford to have a flood and that is my nightmare of this entire build. But let's get to the real reason I am posting. I am posting because I have no idea if the 55 gallon is a big enough sump nor do I know how to go about running the plumbing for the sump. Do I need an external pump? How should I have the sump set up? Do I need to change the sump design? Where do I put the plumbing? Is the 55gallon big enough? I am completely lost once I got to the plumbing. I know how to plumb a house but talking fish tank plumbing has me confused. I included some pics to help you out seeing what I have.
