hey all

well over the last few weeks i have been turning a large section of one of the frag tanks into a full blown reef. we added nearly 1000 pounds of rock 400 pounds of sand. we have been moving things around like crazy, i think i am now happy with the aquacape. I have always wanted a reef i could view from above. i feel that is the best way to view a reef. now i guess its time to fill it up.

not very many corals yet (just stuff i had hanging around in the frag tank), but i thought i would post a quick video so that i can keep track of progress over time.

very nice! what are the dim. ? can't wait to see some of those corals grow out.

well the reef part of the tank is about 10 feet but total tank is 15. i only use about 5-6 feet of this tank for frags that over flow from the other tank so i figured might as well put it to good use.

and yes me to. i love the layout but i hate how bare it is. i dont wait very well so i have already order several large colonys to fill it up.

Thanks for posting it!

thanks guys. we love sitting out there for more then an hour every night just watching stuff. the kids love feeding the fish. its a much more personal approach then the standard glass box for the kids atleast. they love being out with the tank and before then never had any interest.

I like the video. You have a beautiful tank setup.

thanks. its not much yet but when i fill it up im hoping it will be my best tank yet. my old 420 is still my favorite but i'm not sure i want to have the work that was involved with that one. one things for sure this one is alot easier to keep clean since ya dont have any glass to worry about

Very realistic lagoon you have set up. Love the number of fish. That's what really adds to the lagoon feel. I was struck in the Bahamas by that. Can't wait to see it with all the corals!

Very cool setup. Any more pictures of the equipment?

sure do i will get them for ya tonight. you will find i have always been a keep it simple smart reefer. my equipment is, pump, sump, skimmer, CA reactor. thats it. good salt and consistant water changes work wonders in my opinion.

Can you post more on how this is built . I have a 60 x 36 reef flat .
Thanks

here ya go, this is the first go around building this tank. i ended up have to widen it AND lengthen it because i screwed up the calculation. i was so ticked off i never redid the pictures and almost scrapped the idea at the time. looks the same ust a bit longer and wider in the final product
