nice work. How are you going to deal with evaporation?
That is a three part solution. One there will be auto-topoff. The second part is humidity sensing ventilation in the basement that will vent to the outside of the house. The third part is containing humidity for the ventilation using a canopy and the ceiling will be covered in plastic to act as a moisture barrier.

Some progress this weekend. The top bracing frame has been mocked up. The wood across the center of the tanks will actually be glass but I used wood for the mockup. I also got the big canopy sections built and made a hanging bracket system to test it out. Next I have to glue the plastic sheet to the canopy sections.

Well another piece of the puzzle is in. The protien skimmer I need for this aquarium has to be big and after a lot of thought and planning I decided that a diy skimmer would be the way to go. I wanted something that would be bigger than needed. I will create a separate thread for the skimmer once it is constructed. I ordered an inductor tank that will serve as the skimmer body. It's a 60 gallon tank.

A little progress today. The first canopy panel is complete so I got the hanging system setup on it with the top rail. I have to wait for the weather to warm up to complete the other remaining canopy panels.

I got some parts in today for the protein skimmer and an overflow to test out. I was going to make an overflow box but I think the h2o overflow might be a good space saver behind the tanks. I am going to test the h2o overflow on my 150gallon refuge tank. If the test setup works well they will be used on the big tanks.

I drilled the 150 today with the hole drilling kit that I got with the h2o overflow and it made a nice clean hole. Filling the 150 now as a leak test and overflow test.

I was working on the protien skimmer and I have made some progress. Just to give some scale I have my old skimmer next to the new one and a 5 gallon bucket. Lots of work needed to finish this skimmer but it's a start. I will start a separate DIY thread for this skimmer once I have most of the build completed.

So it's been a busy summer and with school on top of that the work on the aquarium slowed down a bit. I did get my glass in and I have built stands for the sump tanks. I will snap some pictures of the equipment room area when I get home. The glass made it home and down into the basement with the help of a few friends. It's all 3/4 in thick.
