It's hard to believe a white light would out perform a red & blue grow light to how algae.
I changed the lights on my ClearTides reactor to red & blue grow LEDs(twice as many as stock), I increased the water flow with bigger and more intake and outflow ports and I still hate it.
My ATS is just far superior at growing algae and is much easier to use.

This seems to be a very cool concept. What's the difference between the light inside as opposed to being wrapped around the outside ? Sure would solve heat issues.

Santamonica,
Why are you trying so hard to bash the CT product?
No offence intended but Its clearly working for the ones that are using it.

i have no doubt these could work on a smaller system but are they effective on a larger system? op's tank is 1/4 the size of mine and is running a chaeto reactor that's already the size of my skimmer.

I put this together last weekend. The hard part is finding some chaeto around here.

It's on a JBJ 45. I upgraded the return pump recently, so open of the stock JBJ returns (265gph) is running this.

What kind of flow do you put through it?

Hello, looking to purchase this reactor but have some questions. The footprint says its 6.5 inches but in your pictures it looks to be much larger! What is it?
