King Ricky,

Do you have progress photos of your aquascape build?

Does anyone have ideas for a very open tall structure for a 118XH? (36Lx24Dx31H)

Thanks,
dantimdad

I was pretty excited to share what I thought to be a unique and different aquascaping idea last night with my elevated sand bed for clams. Went over like a lead balloon.

An elevated sand bed is something that we have been wanting to do for quite some time, but never had an appropriate tank. As we were designing the 700g, the sand bed idea finally happened. Although its hard to tell, this bed is roughly 12"x8", and about 16" off the sand bed. We spent a fair amount of time chipping out the "bowl" and filling in holes to keep the sand in place.

I really enjoy the movement away from the "old school" rock wall type build, to the "new school" open rockwork that we are getting these days. Our reef tanks are a piece of living art, and I think that the aquascaping is so important. It is just as important as the type of coral you keep in the tank. It is the canvas for our living art pieces.

I love the look of the "new school" rockwork, but there is less room to put coral... I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing though :D

9 Gallon Bonsai Aquascaping

Hello everyone this is my 1st post on this forum.

Recently finished the rock work for a CADlights 9 gallon. LED lighting and corner overflow with sump. Still building this setup so these pictures have paper background and a paper overflow just so you can see what the final aquascape will look like in the tank.
