Still getting ammonia readings in their grow out tank. Going to have to wait a few more days before I move them.

Day 41 update: moved all 13 juveniles to their big boy tank. I wanted to move them a while ago but had a constant ammonia reading in the tank. Finally just took some LR from my sump and put it in there. 2 days later it was good to go. Used a 29L, sponge filter, and a whisper filter (rated for a 10g-mostly for some light flow.) My sponge filter shares airlines with my hatching setup.
My next batch is coming any day now. Going to try to get my male in a breeding net tonight.
A few pics of my setup and the cardinals. Putting a 40g breeder on the bottom shelf for my QT.

Got my male in a breeders net night before last. Woke up this morning and overnight he spit out 4 babies. 1 was developed but very small, 1 hadn't hatched yet, 2 had just recently hatched. :( hopefully he hangs on to the rest.

Have another 4 out. These seem a lot smaller than the previous batch. The 4 from last night are still kicking! Yay. The rate at which they absorb their yolk sac is crazy. There were 3 who had visible hanging sacs, now they are in the stomach. Just look really fat. The second pic is the one with yolk sac.

So there's 11 total new fry. Still waiting for him to finish spitting the rest out. In other news...the first batch have started eating frozen brine!

At 17 new fry right now. I think its been a week since he spit a few out early, he's still holding on to a couple. Hopefully he'll get those out tonight, if not....well....he's breaking out of baby jail. I feel bad for having him in the breeder net. Actually really surprised that none died after being "born" so early. 1st baby pics of batch #2.

I'm glad my threats were taken seriously. The last 8 fry were spit out last night. Grand total 25!! Put him back into the main display this morning.

ha this is to cool. I honestly have never thought of keeping Bangaii Cardinal fish but the thought of raising some intrigues me! I noticed you live in Victoria, ever travel up to Houston?
