All tangs are great for a reef tank. but some are only good in a large system.

I like most tangs, although common , the yellow tang. Brings much color to any tank. Also the purple tang. Im not into these very expensive tangs such as the gem or black, there is no need to speed thousands of dollars to have a beautiful tank

I went with the powder blue tang because its a beautiful lookin reasonable priced fish I like the gem tang and black tangs but like Bill "SaltyDog" said its too much money for one fish  imo I had an Achilies tang but like most with experience on haveing one the success rate is low and mines caught Ich  and died

Have you ever seen a blue hippo yellow belly? Very nice fish. Much nicer than the hippo but a little more money

I know many will not agree, but...... a chevron tang. Yep, he has hands down been the top grazer and best all-around tang I've owned and still looks good after he lost the juv colors. The second best imo is the Lieutenant Tang because the 2 I use to own grazed rocks and sand, but bullied all other larger tangs (naso and hippo).

I would go with bristletooth or convict. I had a purple and they are too mean. If you plan on having a community reef tank with a variety of fish then stay away from the aggressive ones like the purple.

I guess mine is the exception. I've got a purple, yellow, naso, and regal all together with no aggression at all.

were not voting for our favorite tang here....... by far the achillies is the worst tang you could get and hardest to keep..... i know it's pretty it's my favorite fish but they don't do well in captivity..... i can't believe it's in first place for the best to have in a tank.....
