If the Copperband can hold out for a day or 2, I would say he'll be ok. Sometimes it their territory and adding anyone will make them defend it.

I wish one of the options is North Atlantic Blue Tang. I have one and he is my most favorite fish.

Yellow eye kole tang
Too bad the poll only lets me select one. I have 7 in my reef and am a big tang fan.
That said, I picked the Kole as well because it stays fairly small and eats well and I've never seen one pick at a coral.
I will not put regals in my reefs anymore - everyone I've had eventually turned to an LPS & clam nipper.

Two separate questions ..... ?

Best Tangs for a reef tank are the bristletooth genus, with the Chevron my preferred option. Only tangs I've kept that have never been problematic. My favorite Tang is tougher. Achilles, Desjardini, Purple, Gem all contenders, though have never personally had a Gem.

My favorite is the carribbean tang aka alantic blue tang. Not sure why more people don't own them. I was a Achilles fan until I saw my first Atlantic. Scopas is probably the best algae eater. I see tons of them in alot of frag tanks maybe it's because they are the cheapest.

I agree, much under rated fish. Their coloration is so variable. When we dove the Carribean we would see very dark blue ones all the way to very light blue in the same school. I was about to get one till we saw how big they can get. We saw some that were almost a foot long! My tank just isn't large enough.

I thought they maxed out at 8". They are probably the best looking fish as a juvi. They have this weird way about the way they swim it's so funny. They are yellow with the blue eye and trimmed with blue how can you beat that. I would love to see them diving very jealous saltyhog

I think in most tanks that's probably true phil. NY Aquatic did have one for sale that was about 10" a while back. I'll see if i can find some pictures of the ones we saw.

Here is a pair that illustrates the variability in color. The yellow 'scalpel' is cool

were not voting for our favorite tang here....... by far the achillies is the worst tang you could get and hardest to keep..... i know it's pretty it's my favorite fish but they don't do well in captivity..... i can't believe it's in first place for the best to have in a tank.....

As far as I can tell, it says vote for your favorite Tang, not vote for your favorite to have in your tank

Getting my first Tang is going to be such a hard decision...I love all of them (Of course, according to tank size, so put the brakes on Tang police, lol).
