Biotek BTM5HO Led T5 Retrofit.... Anyone tried them???

Hey guys,


Has anyone tried these??? Look promising but concerned about the par and look. I have a 48" Giesemann 8 bulb and thinking of adding 2 of these or 2 reefbrites. Big cost difference...

Thoughts????

Thank you for your response. I have the Giesemann Matrixx II should have specified that.

How does the bulb look. Does it give the pop and shimmer Led should?

Nice... I'm tempted to give them a try as well but the 48" 20k is out of stock. Thinking of trying the UV instead... if you don't mind can you let me know how it goes? Happy New Year!

For anyone that's interested I received 1 x 48" 20k + UV. First impression it puts off a good clear blue like a reefbrite. Install was obviously easy. Will do some PAR tests.

I have the 20k/uv, 10k/pink matched with four other euroquatics E5 bulbs and the par I got from those six were 172 6" below at the waterline. Not ideal over an sps dominated tank at all. I had a few sps starting to rtn from their base. I'm going to do a write up today. Good bulbs, probably better to mix them with T5's instead of all together.

Thank you for the write up on this.... I agree 100% that it's a supplemental bulb. Not a lot of Par. That said on a short tank prob close to the regular reefbrite. I'm going to order one more for my actinic night look and use reg T5 for the 2 other phases of light.

I wanted to order two of those ones for the Matrixx Dimtec and they told me that the tubes wont work with the Matrixx.
Just curious to know why that and if the ballast are the same used on the Razor one.
Giesemann Matrixx is now using the Osram Quicktronic QT DIM.

For myself I ended up switching from a Gieseman Matrixx fixture to Radions as I'm moving. The bulb and fixture are in storage now.
