Combined Solar Tubes and LEDs?

Has anybody tried the solar tube/LED combination? It sure is a tempting energy saving concept. You'd only need enough LEDs to achieve the look you want for night time viewing of the tank and the solar tubes would provide enough light for the corals to remain happy, especially here in sunny California. Thoughts?

My friend in here in Vegas went for the solar tube deal and hates everything about it lol....
He didn't really wanna talk about it besides it cost him like 5 grand to have 3 of them installed...
Needless to say after 8 months he runs 400watt radiums now...
He had 3 big ones installed in his roof and used vho actinics.... Dunno...

Whew, $5k for three skylights is big money. The parts seem to be ~$250/each. I can do the work myself. At $20/month in electricity savings, it's probably just never worth it.

250W*3 Radiums*5 hrs/day*30 days/month*$.2/KW/hr=$22.50/month
