FAQ #26: Using Bayer as a coral dip - What recipe do we use?

Have you guys tried dipping with Bayer before? If so, I'd love to hear your experience.

It's the only dip I use. I heard they stopped making it though.

Nice! I have heard it has been harder to find it.

doesnt kill algae or eggs.

True, but as part of a QT process you can minimize chances of that happening.

I've tried it, for me, it is too cloudy, can see what or where something came off of.

That's a good point. We use two different dips with this and Coral RX. The Coral RX is easier to see through for this purpose.

Nice!

Use a clear dish and you can hold it up to a light and look from the bottom. You can see the little nasties squirm for a second and die.

anything else will too with good QT, AND kill algae. FWE would prob be more effective really in qt.
But yea, bayer works too.

Worst trend ever... There's quite a lot of mounting evidence to suggest it causes harm short-term and long-term. I care about the corals. There's plenty of dips meant for corals which do not interfere with the coral itself. It also provokes a resistance in arthropods that is a genetic "switch" which is very real. So those using it for red bugs are just asking for it.
Can't wait until the days comes when people open their eyes.

But flame away those who say 'I've seen no negative effects', I'm used to it. I'll not be checking back because of this.
