Is there any reason for the L angel on the vectra pointing down? I like the idea a lot

would mean the pump could still function with even a half inch height of water is in the return chamber. maintain's the water seal much longer than if they were just straight pipes. That's my guess. beautiful set up!

changing the media in reactors would be a pain no?
and being all hard piped - how would the user drain the first gallon or so of the new media?

Undo the unions and those media chambers lift right out, pretty slick.

I did this in case the pumps were too powerful and may pull air from the surface. They are removable so the user can remove them if needed.

Not really it is actually very easy. Each canister is plumbed with unions. The canisters can be removed at an angle if needed so you only need 7" of clearance. Your skimmer is much harder to remove then these canisters. To drain them after adding new media can either be done at the sink OR get a matching union and connect it to the canisters output and add a couple feet of vinyl tubbing as needed.
Wouldn't the elbow restrict flow on the intake side?
Yes it would but an insignificant amount in this set up.

Thank you everyone!
