Filter For 40 gallon Breeder Reef

I was using an overflow and sump but want to go to HOB filter. I have an aquaclear 50 from a previous 10 gallon nano setup. Can I use that in conjunction with Seachem Tidal 55?

That sounds good depending on the Bioload. Maybe a hob skimmer if you stock it with lots of coral.
