No you only use the 16 if need be. The 4 will join and weld the seams together making the seal.

Thank you. I was suggested to get a 20 long from petco and just do that. I was told its just cheaper and easier. Would a 20 long be a good frag tank?

I would go with glass, in my opinion is much easier to cut if you go with building your own from experience. I just put a refugium in the back of my 30 gallon cube (in tank refugium) but by far I recommend that you just buy a 20 long and add a refugium. It will save you time and slamming ruined pieces of acrylic on to the garage floor lol

Did you use glass? If so is it easy to drill?

Thanks man. It doesn't take too long, just measure things out and take your time. I used the brand all glass aquarium to seal the refugium and is holding like it was actually built by professionals haha. Did a leak test on it today and held up greatly. Ran a pump though it and the flow was amazing, everything from the sump was pouring over the fuge and had great flow through the refugium.

It was acrylic for the front panel being I thought if I tried to drill glass or cut the sump cuts into it I would end up with shards of glass instead of a solid panel. Its such a pain to score because of the thickness it was

What thickness of acrylic did you use and what sealant? Is it called brand name?
