Thought it was time to post a journal of sorts with my system. I have been in the hobby since 1999. That is the year I got married. It was a semi forced hobby by the wife. I was told I need something to do other than go and drink with the friends. I was to be a family man. She suggested an aquarium. "Nope" A few months later I saw a reef tank. I was Hooked. I love my wife but she has no one to blame but herself lol. The addition has stayed strong this entire time.

My current system is all plumbed together. The main floor display is a 300DD. A 200 basement display. A 60 gal 3x3x12" (soon to be a zoa garden). A 100+ gallon skimmer/frag system. And a 100+ gallon sump that has a 10 year old+ deep sand bed that has been untouched for the entire time. Macro algae is also grown in this system.

Pictures to follow.

The fish room is getting closer. New tank should be in soon. The floors are almost done and the stand has been started.

Honestly I’m not too sure on all the parameters. I rarely test anything anymore. Temp is around 78-79. Salt is around 25-26. When I do rest for alk it floats between 7.5-8.5.
Otherwise I just look at the corals. Acros will tell you when their mad and having about 1000 gallon system the swings are slow. Corrections are much easier and not too harmful.
For additives mainly just a few coral foods, fuel, iodine. Fritz salt once a month at 100 gallon change.
The reactor is now a geo 12x24. Loved my Mtc procal. Just couldn’t keep up.
