I found a gall crab in my Trachyphyllia- I saw pink fluorescent claws peaking out of a small hole in the side. I've done a lot of reading and there isn't a consensus on if they hurt brain corals. Most people remove them any thoughts?

I believe they are predators. As amazingly ugly cool as they are . dangerous to tank mates.

From what I understand, they mostly stay within their gall and capture passing bits of food. I'd place them in the "harmless and interesting" category - given what little I know about them.

Females seem to inhabit the galls - males go from one to another and "visit".

For now I'm keeping a close watch and will monitor the corals health. I'll try and take pics and post updates. Would be good to see if these critters are worth digging out with a tweezer or better off left alone
