November 19, 2010 - you can see both corals in the picture above.
On the first picture notice the growth at the base as well.

That is some amazing growth for such a short time, especially with some of those SPS for only about 1/2 a year!

Wow that is some great growth for using LED's. I had a LED fixture on my 72 and it had 24 460's 24 435's and 48 whites. They were all one watts. I could not keep sps in there at all. In fact I sold the fixture and went with T5's. It is nice to see you can get good growth out of some of the LED's out there. I hope to switch back to them someday. Good job.

Now this is a solid evidence that SPS do grow nicely under LEDs. What kind of LEDs and do you use LEDs only?

I would say the growth you're getting is decent but I have seen much better (IMO) growth from halides and t5's

That is some impressive growth. I was thinking to myself as I read, "I wonder what it would look like if they dosed AA form Elos"

I started the AA from Elos and my SPS went nuts-I stopped dosing it becuase I am moving into a new tank and the SPS were growing to the point I had to keep fragging them.

Not to take away from the LED thread that is awesome, but I am such a believer in the AA, my tank is all SPS and I had corals that did nothing in 6-8 months that doubled in size in 2 after using that specific product.

I have always wanted to try the LED's but I read SO many mixed results.

Again nice job and better documentation

That"s awesome growth .
and when you consider your cost ,to run the lights ,and opposed to halides &T5. your very much ahead of the game.

Right on point! Saving money and growing fast! Who cares if mh and t5 grow a little faster in the long run they all grow pretty slow and you save money

Problem with LED is not growth but more of a perceive preference i.e color. LED is the most stable (temp, duration etc) light source for your SPS corals if you pick the right DIY or purchase. Bulbs don't go bad from very long time and par is off the chart. If your water parameter is good to go you will have awesome growth and color, just don't photograph very well as compare to MH probably has to do with not full spectrum as compare to MH.
