I wanted to try something different than Reef Crystals for a new build. I chose the Aquaforest Probiotic Reef salt based on generally positive reviews on BRS.

When mixed according to on the box instruction, the end result was somewhat cloudy. I continued to mix with no change in results over the course of about an hour.

I have never had this problem before. I am sure it is OK to use, but aesthetically - it is annoying.

What can cause this? Anyone else have this problem with this salt?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Following along. I have used many different salts over the years. Too many to count. The only difference after talking to a salt rep was that I was using a too aggressive pump to mix with also I had a e-ductor to increase psi. I have slowed down the pump and this issue went away. Also please check that your ro/di water has no nitrates or phosphates after it's made. The little zero on you meter means nothing to me. Contaminants can still pass through. Hope this helps.

I've used that salt and never had any issue like that. In fact probably it was the fastest salt to mix that I've tried.

I had this happen with two buckets, went to Tropic Marin, I believe there may be an issue with age as the buckets I received from Fosters and Smith was over a year old
