Hey guys,

I have a 40 gal. breeder setup. I have multiplt T-5's on it.
I am wondering if my lighting sounds good or if you all would recomend any changes.

I have: 4- 36" T-5 39 watt 10,000K
4- 36" T-5 24 watt actinic

These are placed directly on top of the tank, with no glass between.
I have egg crate racks built at different levels.

How does it sound?

Thanks,
Steve

Thats alot of light. Sounds like a good setup to me. Is this for a frag tank?

Yep it for a frag tank.

I have some full size colonies of Zoos (4' to 7" colonies on live rock)on the bare bottom. The first level of egg crate is at about 10" from the surface and this is for Zoo frags mounted on plugs. The highes level is about 5" from the surface and holds some SPS frags.

QUOTE=Cirrhilabrus;43169]That is plenty of light. What are you doing for flow?[/QUOTE]

Do you all think that is too much light?

For flow I have a pump returning water from the sump at about 550 gals. per hour. It is pumped up in a 1" hose to a PVC system that has four 1/2" outlets, one at each of the four corners. I also have 2 Mini jet powerheads inside the tank moving about 125 gal. per hour.

The entire system is made very similar to the 40 gal. breeder system posted by Mr. Ugly, except the addition of the two Mini Jets. I added them because I noticed I didn't have enough movement at the surface. Also, instead of the MH light, I have the T-5's sitting on top of the PVC outlet pipes.

I would say too much light for zoas!

I had a 4x39w T5 system on a 65g (24" high) and had to keep zoas at the bottom half

SPS, Clams OK
Zoas...maybe not

Perhaps a shaded area?
