I mixed up 20 gallons of water last weekend and never got around to doing the water change. I have time today but the water has developed a bit of film on top. I have had a strong pump circulating it the entire time. Is it still good to use? I don't want to dump out 20 gallons of water if I don't have to. I tested for nitrate and got zero

If you don't trust it just test on Po4, PH and ALK.
You already tested for No3 and are good on that.

I mix up saltwater in a Brute trash can with the top on tight. There is a powerhead in the tank for mixing. Salt water is just a mixture of different kinds of salts and it should be stable a long period of time. But that is what I think. Randy Holmes-Farley in the chemistry forum almost certainly knows the answer.
