So how the heck do I know how much I have to buy if I can't figure out how much a package will treat? Anyone know how many scoops are in the Kanaplex 5g pack?

Sorry If you have a digital spoon you can measure one scoop and do the math to find out how many scoops are in a bottle.

Thanks for your question.

The little spoon which comes in the Kanaplex holds 180mg of medication.

For doing larger volumes, there are 2.5 grams of Kanaplex per level teaspoon. For a 600 gallon tank, you would need to use about 21.6 grams of medication.

5g/.180g = 27.8 scoops

So one 5g pack gets me less than 4 treatments for a 40 gallon.

I attempted to order 100g however the company I placed the order never processed it. Anyone have a source for the 100g bottle of Kanaplex or alternative?

Blue tang looks really clean, how can I be sure?

The blue tang looks pretty great to me. I thought we were just concerned with the CBB in this case. The hippo always looked good to my eye.

There where some tiny grey/brown specs that where raised against its skin. They seemed to have cleared up after the third treatment of Parazipro.

I'll have all the medications for treating the CCB next week other than the Kana. I wasn't able to find it in stock in the 100g+ sizes I wanted. A LFS does have Kanaplex in stock @ 11$ a 5g pack. I was also able to find a 10g glass tank for 8$ at my LFS today. That will allow me closely monitor the fish while in the Formalin dip. Also getting the other 40 set up for transfer after the dip. I'll half fill it so I don't have to use as much medication.

CCB looks very good today, all spots are visibly better and I see much fewer blemishes raised from its skin.

The Blue Tang also look good, no signs of black ich that I can tell.

Still waiting for medications.

Display still fallow at least until mid Feb. my corals will sure enjoy having fish to feed them again.

I would go ahead and get a small thing of kanaplex since you need it now.

I wouldn't use formalin for an open wound. You can use Methyline blue to heal open wounds.

Ok so my order for the Kanamycin was processed and will be here tomorrow. I can start treatment Friday.
I have 500grams Metro, 500g Furan, 100g Kana (tomorrow). That should be plenty. The Formalin should be here soon too.

Question: I assume I dose each Metro, Kana, and Furan as directed?

Are water changes necessary?

Is there a chance of ammonia spikes with this kind of treatments?

Do I add each everyday or only as directed for 10 continuous days?

Anything else I should know?

Yes, but I like to space it out so I'm not dumping too many meds on the fish all at once. Example: Dose Kanaplex in the AM, Metroplex in the PM, Furan-2 the next day...

Yes, but time the dosages of each medication so the fish is getting at least 24 hrs exposure time before doing a WC.

Yes, but if your QT bio-filter is healthy that shouldn't happen.

The Blue Tang is twitching/trashing in the PVC, I'm still concerned there may be a problem. I know Blue tangs like to hide and stuff but is this behavior normal?
