Hi!

Let me introduce you to my reef story. My name is Andrey. I live in Moscow.

This story began in December, 2014. I bought the tank filled by plenty of amazing Xenia colonies. It was a first step for discovering the new marine animals.

About a year ago I started learning how to care of the SPS corals. Step by step I created absolutely different concept.

So, with a big honour I'd like to present Kakitsubata reef. Hope you can see and find something new and interesting about corals life in one Moscow's mini reef

I like your xenia forest but you have definitely improved as a reefer. I think the biggest thing you learned was aquascaping. The composition of your reef is just so much better.

Beautiful tank!!! I'm curious about how your maintaining parameters. I've started my 30 cube up again and don't want swinging parameters due to water changes. Love the bright vibrant colors...I'm in complete awe. Tank inspiration for real!

The Setosa are stunning so red, what lighting fixture are you using? I am thinking you need to start a build thread for all our questions. :)

From xenia to sps transformation and progress apparently went very well. Light looks Radion XR15, is that correct? What is the rest of the setup?
Oh, and where the name comes from? Sounds Japanese :)

My friends,

thank you so much for your attention and kind words. I really do appreciate it.

I think it's time to give you some information about technical background. I called it RUN SIMPLE :)

Tank ELOS MINI
  • Dimensions: 16.9 x 15.8 x 16.9"
  • Volume: 20gallons

Light
  • EcoTech Marine Radion XR15w Pro LED, Standard Preset: SPS AB+

Flow
  • EcoTech Marine VorTech MP10wES

Skimmer
  • DC skimmer with Jebao DC-1200 pump

Dosing (without any automation)
  • only handle dosing of the classic Balling Method, 100 ml each component every day. Yes it's seems to be very strange, but it works well for Kakitsubata...

Filter Accessories
  • Chemipure Elite for Aquarium
  • Seachem PhosGuard

And few words about about setosa monti, espessially for @Tahoe61 :)

Yes, you are absolutely right :) My idea was to give the name that really describe my main concept:
  • the garden of snones, japanese: 枯山水
  • Japanese iris, kakitsubata: カキツバタ
In Russia local community knows it as Kakitsubata reef.

Thanks for your attention. Have a good day!
