I've been maintaining my tank in my parents house, having moved out about 3-4 months ago. I visit every day and it sucks but haven't had the time to move the setup yet. Here's the problem there is no generator, unfortunately and no battery backup! The bigger problem A storm is about to hit us later tonight, nothing that serious but I now for sure that the power will be down for sometime just don't know how much and at what time and I don't wanna have to stay up all night calling to check if power was out and if it did aerate the tank with my hand :squigglemouth:
So I decided to do a last minute battery backup I read several threads and it seems fairly easy... so i ran out to radioshack, pepboys, and some other places and gathered most of what I need, I think, however I have a couple doubts and I want to make sure it'll work...so i'd really appreciate the help
What I got
and I am following this diagram
-2amp/12vdc automatic float mode slow charge battery maintainer
-inline fuse holder for 5x20mm fuse
-1.5 amp 250volt fuse
-DC power plug 1.3mm
-8ft 12 awg wire
-soldering tool & rosin
First question
I could not find the 12vdc/18amp battery I saw other people used and is what the original vortech backup actually uses ... but I have a small car battery being charged right now Will this work?
if not them I'm screwed and never mind the rest lol.
If it does...then will the battery charger I bought work? I want this system to turn on my vortech once the power goes out?
