His tank was ready and I was looking online and let one of my lfs that gets anglers in from time to time that I was ready for one. I wanted a white warty with smooth skin and red and orange accents. The next day the lfs got this guy in, I almost passed because he is itty bitty: about an inch. I'm a little nervous raising a baby, he acclimated well and was fishing the 1st night. I've had him a few days and he's eating live ghost shrimp and is very active, exploring the whole tank. I've been feeding him 2-3 very small ghost shrimp daily for now, I would usually feed 2-3 a week, but being a baby I'd think he should eat more often. I ordered some red and orange artificial corals from Living Color to encourage him to keep his colors. He's in a BC29 by himself. IMG_20160714_215829.jpg IMG_20160714_215754.jpg

I LOVE angler fish! I haven't had the pleasure of keeping one myself, but they're definitely one of my favorites! Goodluck with him!!

I really want one, but I know I need to get a species tank and I'm too busy setting up a small shark pool to do that atm.

Thanks for the comments. They are super cool, so much more inter reactive with you than you would think. In one week he has already found his favorite fishing spots. I wish I had a better camera, but if you look real hard you'll see him fishing a ghost shrimp.

I wish I could post a vid, don't have the proper equipment. Getting some fantastic entertainment. Right now he's eating ghosties, for the life of me every predator fish I get are just too darn smart to take dead. I've been trying to get him to take a jumbo mysis, a fresh dead ghostie; even using a clear stick with a fishing line. And he's used to the stick because that's what I corral his ghosties with. So you can see how small he is, that fake coral is 2".

He's awesome, how long have you had him. As much as I've been frustrated trying to train my lions and my anglers, I do see a difference in their behavior when they are hunting and stalking. The biggest complaint I hear about lions is that they are lazy, mine are insane; I set my lights to dusk and can watch them hunt every evening. Watching them set up their prey and pounch is quite fascinating. My angler missed a ghostie the other day and to watch him creep up on it and drop his lure, he waved it from side to side as to hypnotize and eased in, slurp. So I'm now torn if I shouldn't just keep him wild.

Oh yea I do love watching him hunt too, I feed him live food too , but I trained him just in case I can't find live foods, sometimes my LFS run out of live food, I have had him for around 6 months .
