Whats one big, cool/wierd looking fish that could be ok by itself in a 30 gallon? It would be the only fish in the tank.

I wouldn't do a marine betta in a 30.

A frogfish/angler would be pretty cool though.

I would agree with frogfish, angler, leaffish or rhinopias. Also, a canthigaster puffer, Hawaiian fantail filefish, Acanthocepola species, mimic fang blenny are a few other options.

+1 on frogfish. It would be the easyest to take care of

Frogfish care is very challenging, their mortality rate is ridiculously high. Please do alot of research if you are actually interested in keeping one.

When I kept my warty frogfish it was easy to keep. After a day or two of not eating he started to eat shrimp then started to eat everything I put in.

I've never seen that one, the ones I have experience with is the warty and the painted anglerfish. I feed mine live food, and have never met anyone keeping them longer than a few months feeding them dead food. I would love to hear long term success, I've only been able to keep one 2.5 years.

A Rhinopias would fit the bill of being large, impressive and appropriate for a 30 gallon.

Ya my frogfish ate live cherry shrimp and mollys (that my sister grow) along with frozen squid and mysis shrimp.
