Need help finding out what this is?

I have had this fish for about two weeks now and he just started to show these brown like spots on his side and tail. I can't figure out what it is, Im thinking maybe velvet but im not sure? Im new to the salt water hobby and don't know what to do! I have moved him to my QT so nothing will happen to my other fish but i woke up this morning to him stuck to my wave maker i feel bad for the poor guy if someone could get back to me that would be great!

im new to this whole forum thing I dont know how to move it his tank mates are two clown fish a goby and a six lined wrass so I dont think he got stung

Set up a qt tank and treat with cooper for external parasite and prazy for internal. do you have pics you can post? IF you dont have a qt tank set up there some natural medicine treatment you can dose your main tank with they are not as strong as copper and prazy but work just take a bit longer just keep up your maintenance after every treatment also you can try lowering the salinity if you dont have corals and raising up the heat as well.

Probably a bacterial infection.
- freshwater dip
- acriflavine bath

Ruby Reef Rally contains acriflavine. Good stuff to keep on hand. It's antiseptic qualities are wonderful for fish with a variety of diseases.

When doing the freshwater dip we are looking for flukes to drop off the fish, usually at about the 2-3 min mark. 5 min maximum. If no flukes, then points more toward bacterial.

Siganus fish are naturally resistant to Cryptocaryon and may exhibit, when stressed, this "ripe banana" coloration ... if the spots are symmetrical on both sides of the fish, it is only their coloration in response to the aggressions of another fish or coral.

The problem with diagnosing rabbitfish is they possess a serum which has been proven to kill ich and also shows antibacterial activity: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21333741

So it is logical to conclude that diseases will present differently on a rabbitfish due to this serum. However, anytime a fish is so weak that they get stuck to a wave maker that is usually bad news. My first move would be to perform a 5 min FW dip to check for flukes: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/freshwater-dip.248898/

That looks like an injury like a coral sting to me. Infection is more likely to be one or two spots rather than a group, and I don’t see that as flukes but certainly a freshwater dip in a dark bucket would be a good idea to diagnose first, I’ve been wrong before!

Did a fresh water dip for about 2 minute and couldn’t find the other stuff at my LFS but found some prazipro the guy at the store said it works the same as a bacterial remedy. But the little guy didn’t make it he just passed away thank you guys for all your help it was much appreciated love this community <3 and how supportive you guys are!

Thanks!hes in a better place now only wish i could have helped the little guy better but you guys helped me out a bunch thanks! i will look into getting this stuff ordered to keep on hand.also I didn’t notice any white things fall off of him or anything when i did the dip so don’t think it was flukes.i think he might have gotten a bacterial infection do to fighting with my six lined wrass don’t have no corals yet either so couldn’t have came from that.
