Hello all my name is chris. I am new to the reef but was in fresh water for many years just broke down a 120 galkon tank which had malawi cichlids and frontosa and peacock chichlids. I have always wanted to have a saltwater aquarium. I know have the space and a little time to make it happen. I just finished buidling a stand for my 180 gallon tank. I have plumbed it and with custom acrylic sump and a custom 45 gallon acrylic ATO. I am 41 years old live in new york and am looking forward for some good friends in the reefing community to give me a hand.
Awesome! I love African cichlids! Discuss! Welcome, go get me some salsa homie cuz I'm a cowboy!

Hello all. I am on the verge of continuing this build. It's been a hectic year and had no down time to do anything until now that things are calm down n am back on leveled ground (roller coaster year if I may say). So here it is.
180 gallon tank. Custom DIY build stand and canopy. a custom sump 36 gallon.
40 gallon custom square ATO.
Equipment:
(3) hydra 26 lights
2x RW15 wave maker
(1) RW8 wave maker
1000 watt heater by blue line.
(4)36" sunblaster t5 ballast 39 watts each.
Pond master 12 return pump.
Reefoctopus 200int Skimmer.
Reefkeeper lite plus. ( PH probe,Temp prob, Salinity Probe.
Fluval FX5 canister filter ( running it bare as another ciculation pump)
(2) 1.1 ml doser from bulk reef supply.
JBJ ATO system.
The system is plumbed n just wiring everything in before shimming tank and water test. I'll submit pictures in the morning of the build so far. Please give any feed back on equipment Or anything you would change. Thanks

Sorry all about the mess :(. It will be ckean almost done with the wiring n moving of the tank. I think I have this in the build thread but am not sure. But if I don't please let me know n how I can put it there. TheFluval FX5 that you all see in the pic is only for circulation in the aquarium . Will be run empty.
