Well here goes. I typically just browse and get inspired but decided to start a thread. This is my 3rd reef and I'd say around my 6th tank overall, yet still I make just about every imaginable mistake being impatient. Yup, I'm that guy. Getting much better at it though.

My latest set up is a SCA 150 picked up a few weeks ago on sale $777.77 (couldn't resist). I have a center overflow and Herbie style plumbing. I transferred everything from my previous Deep Blue 80 rimless with the exception of the sand. I am running it bare bottom at the moment but considering adding some sand in the near future.

SCA 150 starphire
Trigger Emerald 39 sump
1x MP40WQD 1x MP40WES 1x MP10WES (looking to eventually upgrade all to QD)
Apex controller 2x EB8 and DOS (AFS but haven't decided to trust it just yet)
48" ATI Powermodule 6x54w / reefbrite supplement
Eheim 1260 return
Vertex omega 150 (looking to upgrade)
Tunze 3155 ATO
5 gallon ATO reservoir

I will follow up with pics once I have some time.

Well, a belated welcome to R2R but thanks for posting up your tank details. Sounds like a nice setup. Can't wait to see some pictures.

Regarding my interest in a skimmer upgrade, I'm considering either the ATB 840v2 or the Bubbleking Double Cone 180 or 200. Can anyone give me their opinion or experience on either skimmer being used for a similar setup. It's very hard to justify the bubbleking price. I've actually had a BK mini 160 years ago. No complaints but I believe it was overkill for my cube back then and never was too impressed by the performance.

Welcome to R2R:), that is a very nice setup. I regards to your question about skimmers, may I suggest starting a separate thread featuring your questions about skimmers. Give member a choice of a couple that you are looking at, maybe starting a poll and you will find your answer;)

Welcome to Reef2reef!!! I've never owned a bubbleKing skimmer and I.seriously doubt that I ever will. I just don't see how the extra cost can be justified. I think there are far too many relatively less expensive options.

Fantastic reef tank you have there! Love everything about it. Masked swallowtails are my favorite angels. ;) Thanks for sharing this and welcome to R2R!
