The thing that killed me though was it was sold as a combo pack. PH and Ammonia. You could use the ammonia badge in fresh/salt water but the PH could only be used in fresh. I have no idea why they would sale both together if both cant be USED together.

They used to sell the ammonia badge separately, but I've been noticing lately too that Petco/smart only carry the combo packs (for like $20). Just one more reason to buy online: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=4387

Alright guys, i have not seen the yellow tang eat at all yesterday or today. The big hippo usually eats like a pig and is still fat as can be but she is not eating as much. What should i do from here.

On another note, i just spoke with the principle at the school. When this is all said and done he is considering not putting the 2 tangs and the clownfish back into the display tank. Reasons: The tangs are ich magnets and the clownfish should have a buddy. Fears that when a second clown is purchased the original one will kill it. Is there any truth or concern with these comments.

My stance is that the tangs and DT will be cured of ich and when a 2nd clownfish is purchased and put into the DT at the same time as the one in QT, it wont be a problem because neither would of had time to establish a territory.

At one point their were 2 clowns but one had past away for reasons we are unsure of. Going to guess it was ich.

Where are we at copper dose right now? If you were increasing it everyday after they ate we might have went a bit too quick. I would hold off on increasing the dose for a day or two until the yellow tang starts eating. You mentioned you tried garlic? Maybe mysis will entice it to eat?

I wouldn't get rid of the tangs just because they are ich magnets, the ich will not suddenly appear after we treat it, unless it's added in (and im guessing we will QT all new fish going forward).

Regarding the clownfish, you don't need to have a pair, I've had a single one for a while and he's as happy as can be in his anemome. However if you do add another one, try to get it around the same size. They won't kill each other but pairs will always fight until one (usually the female) establishes dominance.

You may need to start doing WCs (to lower the Cu level) until the YT resumes eating. Tell your principal so long as the school pays you to QT all future fish purchases, there is no need to worry about whether or not a fish is a "ich magnet". ;)

How long can a 4" tang go without eating?

AND, i think i found out why he is not eating and its not the copper. Look at the below pictures, there is this stringy stuff its pooping out that actually is stuck to him. Reminds me of cheato. Is this some type of a worm?

If it is a worm, how is it only now that its showing its face?

Is the stringy poop white or brown? It looks brown in the pic, which is normal. White stringy poop, however, denotes intestinal worms.

The ammonia badge, when i am done using it is there a proper way to store it so that i can use it again. Im assuming its good up to a years worth of being in a tank.

@Pola0502ds ^^ Looks like there is no right or wrong answer here; however it might be best to store in some RODI in a dark room (so no algae is allowed to grow on it.)
