Friday came home to skimmer cup full to top of neck.

Tank was cloudy white

Tested prams discovered ammonia was not at 0. Did a water change

Saturday morning ammonia 0 again, tank still cloudy.

Fish and coral are doing good.

Did my normal water change this morning. Water still the same.

Is this what I'm deal with or what. What do I do or except?????

I dose for alk, mag, cal. If that not what you mean I'm sorry I'm new to this

Also my tank is 5 months old
No sweat at all.
some foods, like acro power, vitamin c, marine snow, contain either amino acids or a carbon source. There are also Bottled bacterias.
another place to look would be a bio pellet reactor. dead fish or snail.

on thing to consider as you figure out why its going on is to make sure you have enough gas exchange. if its a sumped tank its prob fine with the overflow and sump skimmer, in an AIO or cube or you may need to use the powerhead to agitate the surface of the water. bacteria will eat up a lot of water.

get them out. Once you get them out into your hand, youll know why I suggest it.
are the socks full of bacteria slime?

No on the sock. Don't know why. Snails I can't find them. And it's probably hermit crabs not snail just don't see as many as I did

I went through a bac bloom too. Only thing that got rid of it was running uv, twice. First time was a week, second was for two weeks. Was just my tank settling in I think. It will get better.

iv also had reports of a small amount of activated carbon in a reactor, or a bag right on the inlet of the pump working.
Id clean the socks, look for snails. A dead turbo is bad news.

also are you using air fresheners? hand sanitizers? that'll cause a bloom too.

No turbo snails.

No air freshener in other rooms. No sanitizer

A offset in nutrients can cause a BB, I have seen this happening in young tanks a lot.
Just let it be and in a few days it should clear up.

Been there and done that!
Had my carpets cleaning and got the worst bacteria bloom you've ever seen. They spot treated with aerosols close to my tank. Bad news. I don't use plug in air fresheners anymore either. That carpet aerosol experience is a lesson learned and three months or heartbreak. Wouldn't wish it on any reefer.

Just double checking.
Have you been carbon dosing?

Or using a salt mix like Tropic Marin Bioactif or Aquaforest Probiotic?

Hi. What do you mean there by activated carbon near the pump? I just got through a 2 week bac bloom and have had the clearest water I've ever seen for about 48 hours and now my tank is getting slightly cloudy again. I have a nuvo 20g and I'm keeping chemipure bag in the middle chamber with my pump. Think this is causing my bac blooms?

Me either until it happened :( :( :(

I din't know what to do, so I kept doing water changes to no avail.

The bacteria wasn't just cloudy water. It turned into white stringy stuff that chocked out many corals :(

I din't know what to do, so I kept doing water changes to no avail.

Later on after it was over I stumbled on an article that was about (old tank syndrome caused by airborne aerosols). It described my tanks symptoms to a tee. It had things to try but no know cure.
