I have a client with a 320gal island tank(all sides viewable) 96x24x36 with center overflow. All sides are .75in thick glass. It has some serious design problems. It is a fish only system with fish of all sizes.
It has 2x .75in returns (outside the overflow), and 1x 1in drain(yes you read that right). The sump is a Frankenstein of two wet dry sumps.
The tank has a canopy on it with 2x 48in t5 fixtures. The top of the tank is eurobraced with only 3 openings about 18in x 18in each.
The problem we are having is circulation. There are 2 magnum 5 powerheads mouted to the overflow box, but the magnets dont hold well. We have lost several magnets into the overflow box and cant retrieve them. The center overflow is .75in glass with a .25in acrylic cover and has some kind of durso. Limited access to reach in or see into.
What do you use on tanks with thick sides? Any tricks? Or other suggestions for increasing circulation.
