forgot i made this thread, the frogfish is doing well in the sump, eating frozen once a week and isn't scared of me anymore, and for the 6 gallon i haven't done much with it other than add a tiny leopard wrasse (also eating frozen) he's just 2 inches and will soon go into my main display, the crab is doing well too! will get pictures later when the lights are on.Any updates here @ManWithAClam?
Nice little angler! My LFS has one now and I’ve been very tempted. Idk if you mentioned it earlier but what temp do you keep this guy at?little leopard wrasse, not sure what species it is yet.
Sid, the decorator crab just doing his thing, he really likes GSP too
And the frogfish in his little algae penthouse
i keep him at normal reef temps, mostly because i cant keep it any cooler, in the summer my tank regularly goes to 81F, but ive had him for over 7 months now and he's been doing great, how big is the one at your LFS? the smaller the better, they are easier to train. ive heard they do better in the 74 - 77 range but i dont think it makes a big difference, they are very adaptable and somewhat hardy animals when they are comfortable in their environment.Nice little angler! I never saw one of these, wow, very cool looking.also added an orange sponge crab, marcelcoma trispinosum. have been looking for one and my lfs had just got him in!he has taken a liking to the Kenya tree already so I guess I’ll keep an eye on him, if he causes issues I’ll just Sump him.
That little guy is so freaking cute!Introduction:
This is my 6 gallon Fluval Edge, it used to house a tiny Manilensis puffer but he has outgrown it and now lives in a larger tank. Next I will be putting my Painted Frogfish (Antennarius Pictus) in here along with soft corals, Macroalgae and NPS corals.
I’m hoping to have the frogfish in here next weekend and will be adding stuff from another tank every day, you may be thinking this tank is too small for a frogfish, and it definitely is for an adult, but right now he is quite small, and has been living in my sump for about 6 months, here he is next to my thumb:I will keep everyone updated on how things are going, the most important part about this is avoiding stress on the fish during the move as these fish usually don’t acclimate to a new environment very well.
One at my local shop is no more than 1.5”. The smallest I’ve seen in person. The ones had in the past ranged from 2-4”.i keep him at normal reef temps, mostly because i cant keep it any cooler, in the summer my tank regularly goes to 81F, but ive had him for over 7 months now and he's been doing great, how big is the one at your LFS? the smaller the better, they are easier to train. ive heard they do better in the 74 - 77 range but i dont think it makes a big difference, they are very adaptable and somewhat hardy animals when they are comfortable in their environment.
thats good start, ask them if you could see it eat, i trained mine by hiding the pipette behind anything the frogfish was near and squirting the food out in front of him, eventually he learned the pipette was a food source, and i would also turn the sump light on whenever i feed, nowadays when i turn it on he bites the water surface lol, i feed him LRS chunky food which has a variety of things. One at my local shop is no more than 1.5”. these tanks are super underrated! especially for saltwater, i like it with the lid cause it looks super clean and modernThats a really cool nano system! I like the edge too! I have the 12 gallon version but just took the top off :/
Inverts or "pest" tank maybe? You could do some pretty cool crabs or shrimp, a green serpent star (the large, predatory ones), a predatory snail/snails, or a nem tank with it.what do you guys think I should do with this tank now?
Adorable!
