What settings are you using for fish photography? Great pics!
I get asked this question a lot and there is no set answer. I shoot in manual mode and prefer to keep ISO at 800 or less. From there, it really depends on the lens, amount of light available, how fast the fish moves and how much or little bokeh (the blur in the background) I want. I do include camera settings for the majority of my photos when I upload to flickr. As an example, here's a screen shot from Flickr of the Eightline flasher photo and settings I used:

Hi Nelson, our parameters are:
Temp: 75
Salinity: 1.025
Ca: 440
Alk: 8.6
Mag: 1300
Po4: .03

I've been really enjoying reading the thread over the past few days. Thanks so much for taking the time to share, I will certainly take many of the ideas I've gathered as I've read into my new (used) 225G build. I was surprised by your temp at 75. Is that the correct number?

Thank You and congrats on your 225! Yes, 75F is the average temperature (actual range is 74.1 to 75.6). We run our system at a cooler temp because we keep several deep water fish. The cooler temps do slow metabolism a bit, but we have not seen any adverse effects to any of our fish or corals.

Wow such a beautiful tank! Any photos of the new purple monster??
Thank You!
This is not a very good pic, but it's the only one I have with both versions of the Purple Monster.

Update on the move:
  • All of the fish (with the exception of our ocellaris clownfish pair have been moved over to the RS.
  • About 2/3rd's of the corals have been moved.
  • All (3) AI Fiftytwo's are up and running. Looks like we're going to need one more.
  • The Tunze pumps are soaking. In the meantime, we've got a new 6095 blasting in there - amazing how strong those little pumps are!
It's a bit messy in there as none of the corals have been placed, but the fish are loving their new home. Here's a shot of the left side:

We were a bit concerned about "Big Daddy's" (desjardini) introduction to "Barbie" (blonde naso), but so far, he has continued to be his mellow self. He has been with us for 13 years now.

Here's a shot of the right side:

And we could not resist sharing this shot of "Vin" (Genicanthus semifasciatus).

Hello, wow and amazing!

In this post you state that the tunze pumps were soaking, what do you mean? Do they require conditioning or is that for cleanup?
Thanks so much!

Thank You for the compliment! The Tunze pumps were soaking in a mild acid bath to clean them. [emoji2]

Great photos!

I also love the original purple monster for how smooth it is and the way it grows.

Our two new babies (from LiveAquaria - Diver's Den) arrived yesterday morning. They are an initial phase Chirrhilabrus johnsoni and a female Psuedojuloides cerasinus. Both came in looking very healthy, are settled into quarantine and eating like pigs.
