Hi all just curious as to whether having a uv filter on your marine tank needed. I currently have one on my tank at the moment but im considering disconnecting it. Just wanted to know the pros and cons and if i should get rid. TIA

I would leave it. if you remove it, you aren't going to get extra pods or any more helpful bacteria than are already in excess in the UV or non UV setup. the removal impact could be neutral, and a downside might be some cyano or diatoms depending on conditions, UV are great at zapping those from systems they'd otherwise manifest in. I cant think of any negative downside about good strong UV in a large tank. Id run two if I had a large tank.
