I am not a huge do it yourself guy. Mainly because I do not have a lot of tools and even less time but I did manage to make a few things for a 120g tank of mine.

The overflow cover....

Decorative box frame for an AmericanDj controller......

Decorative exterior tank overflow cover which you will see more of.......

And made my own stand and canopy based on the design I borrowed from another reefer.......

Hey all,
I'm new to r2r and generally post on my local reef club forum.
I love all the info here on r2r and the vast knowledge of the fellow reefers.
I love DIY projects being a professional furniture maker and have a large work shop at my disposal helps quit a bit.
Lately it has been acrylic work a friend and fellow reefer that is on here and my local club. On my local club he go's by Kurt. Not sure if it's the same here.
Last Friday we picked up 2 sheets of .5 cast acrylic and some scraps in various sizes and thickness.
I have a CNC router so we spent the afternoon working out the correct bits and feed speeds to get that perfect edge right off of the machine. Saturday I decided to use some scraps to make a few items.
First off I needed a better filter sock holder for the new skimmer area of my sump.
Here are a couple picks of the unit. I am going to permanently glue this into my sump.

I also needed a skimmer collection cup that has a float switch on it in the event it fills and I'm not home.
Here are a couple of pictures.

I also found out that using beeswax to lube the tap for threading holes works really well.

Here is the unit with the float switch installed. I still need to make a gasket for the lid. And find some nylon thumb screws to fasten the lid. I don't want to use a screw driver every time I open it.

We are going to be building a few tanks over the next month. I am practicing using weld-on #4 to get that perfect seam and not make a mess.

Cheers
Chris

Made the tops so my wrasses won't escape. Made them out of clear netting and screen framing.
