Hello guys, debating fixtures. Really like the Radions, xr30 gen 2 (my price range, second hand) also like the r420r (160w pretty common second hand). Will the xr30 offer enough spread, is one better for the job than the other? I plan on growing coral, edge to edge(not sure what kind, very new to reefing). Thanks in advance guys.

Radion Xr30 would do the job if u hang it high enough
Maxspect it's a nice light too
I had own both and they are nice lights.
Even two AI prime LEDs would do wonders
I had the exact same tank with 2 primes and
I love them .

Only problem is I can't hang, or really am leaning towards not hanging anyways. I would get the mounting kit, and only have the light 8" above the water....

I really like the controllability of the radions. Would it be worth it to get two xr15s possibly? Second shopping on lights

Well I don't have that much money to play with haha. That's why I'm hoping to find a good deal on used leds. When the right deal pops up, I want to have the information to know whether to jump on it or not. So a single mounted XR30; Will not cover a 36" tank... What about with wide angle lens??

Can you mix radions? Say I get a gen 2 now, and down the road want to add a gen 3 or a xr30 with a 15. A pro with a non pro. Can they be ran off the same controller ?

Yes u can perfectly mix radions
As for the other question about 1 xr30 with wide angles I'm not sure about it , probably it can do but I'm not sure , maybe some one can chime in .

I answered your other thread you posted but will answer here too. Go with the xr15's you will be able to get a better spread on the long tank.
I have the xr30 on a Fusion 40 and it is great for that size tank but it would be stretching it on the 30 long. 36" is a hard tank to light if you don't use two fixtures.

A single XR30 will cover a 36" tank with the wide angle lens .
A gen 3 would be better than a gen 1.

Sorry this is in two threads, if the mods would condense into one I would appreciate it. Should I try and spring for the pro version? I think I'll try and find two xr15s...

I wouldn't get the pro unless you want to future proof purchase. I see people yanking lights on and off their tanks so fast searching for that magic light. It can take corals months to adjust to a light. [emoji3]

Okay, I'll keep that in mind. Thank you. Any other lights come to mind well suited to cover a 36" long tank?
