Looking at one of my zoas today and I noticed that some of the polyps are ballooning in the middle. Is that normal behavior?

They can do that from time to time. Sometimes they invert too and look like umbrellas. In my experience, they tend to go back to normal after a few days or so.

Since posting, they have started to "deflate" and go back to normal. I'm wondering if it's a defense thing cause it puffed up when I moved them.

I had some large ones do this, but it went back to normal after some time. I think it closes too quickly and nothing major.
