Good morning Smorgsters, I’m running out of clown pictures so I will leave you with this last picture because I have a question. Do you think my female clown is egg bound and ready to spawn or is she just fat?

I feel you brother. I lost a lot of my "heirloom" corals today. Here's what I can say. You did it. You tried it. How many people on this Earth even attempt to put such amazing and unique creatures in a glass box and love them? I can assure you, they didn't end up this way because you didn't care. You're a great steward of this hobby. Don't let this get you down. Rebound.
I need to be dead or homeless to not be in this hobby, the only thing I would like to know is why is this happening, for myself in the future and also be able to help someone when I can so that they don't go through the same thing.

Joel... Love ya brother. I jumped on the thread and this is the first post I had in my messages. I hope you're good too my friend.
I added some really cool acro frags and a plate coral yesterday. I'm not sure what happened in the process of adding them and changing the water, but 75% of my corals look dead. Most of my sps are bleach white and baring skeleton. I had a cool little branching cyphastrea that I wanted to show Wes, @Imrahilwjz but it is dead too. All of my euphyllia and my big meat corals are the size of dimes, including that big flowing hammer that you like. I'm a little heartbroken and didn't feel like talking about my tank today.

I hope my reef family is good. Hang in there and be good reef parents. You are all such good people in this little space we have here.
I'm sorry to hear this John, but for something to attack all the corals at the same time it has to be something that fell into the water or if it's a new salt could it be that that batch came bad? Because I don't think that by adding new corals, even if one came sick, it can't attack the entire tank in one day.

Oh, and BTW @luis angel, you can use giftcards on auctions @ SBB now. You can get some insane deals there. I'm going to wait for an auction in the spring, and spend my giftcards there.

Improved my Phyto set up. I used two of the grow lights for our seedlings since last year I used 3 nicrews I had on hand. two 50w and one 150w for the seedlings. PAR is at 352 at the edge of the glass, and there is room for a 3rd jar. had to get another tub

That's sweet! I'd like to start my own phyto culture but have NO clue where to begin.

Pretty simple.

- Grow light (does NOT have to be anything crazy)
- Fertilizer (I use guillards f2 formula.)
- Bottle
- air pump w/ tubing
- SINGLE strain of phytoplankton.

sanatize your bottle, first. I used h2o2. I siwshed it around, dumped it out and then rinsed wirh RO water. Make fresh, clean saltwater and add to your bottle. Add phyto to the concentration that you want, then add your airpump. Add lights, and let sit until its dark!

i think thats it!!

So yea, I geuss maybe an icp test? Seems like other than that, the rest of your tank looks really healthy and is actively.

Granted I'm no expert, I'm just tryingntk be helpful if at all possible
