Hey all

Thought I’d post up pictures of my reef tank upgrade went from a 30g mini reef to this 100g cube tank.

I also want to keep an ongoing log so will keep this thread updated with new developments as I upgrade equipment introduce new live stock etc.

Here was the mini reef (running for three years) the day before the upgrade. As you can see I had outgrown this tank..

When the new tank arrived, I started playing with the plumbing and the scape. Even had a little help!

The tank is slowly getting there since adding a few fish. I’m planning on doing something with all the cables and equipment on the side of the cabinet, that’s my next project...

here are some recent photos and the current stock list
- Pyramid Butterfly
- Scribbled Rabbitfish
- Pair of Clowns
- Tomini Tang
+ I have a coral beauty dwarf and three barrier reef chromis in QT at the moment due to go into the DT on Saturday.

I also have two kessil a360we’s coming next week which will replace the 1x a160 I currently have. From there I plan on getting some additional rock or making a nice bommie out of the rock I have to get ready for some SPS frags. Will post some photos and updates when the new lights arrive!

I will also need to start scoping out what I need for a coral QT tank...

Wow, you had some beautiful corals to transfer over-- very nice looking. Congrats!
Thanks! Yes some mature corals and rocks always helps get things moving. Definitely have more room now to grow out some SPS so can’t wait to get the new lights and build up the scape

A few photos from tonight just taken on the iPhone so nothing special.

Everything’s looking good at the moment can’t wait to get my two new kessil a360s next week - that will completely change the tank! New fish out of QT tomorrow so I will post up some pics once they are in!

Final inspections after QT before going into the display tank - all clean and disease free

All seem happy in the tank this morning will get some better photos when the lights are on and they are a bit more settled.

The only aggression at the moment is from the Tomini tang to the angel but hopefully that won’t last long.

Got my new kessils today! 2x A360WE - have started off doing a pretty low intensity lighting cycle to acclimate my corals - around 40% colour 40% intensity instead of 80% and 100% on the the 160

will increase it over the next couple of weeks and see how everything goes - want around 60% intensity for SPS

love that there is no shadowing and every inch of the tank is well lit!

Merry fishmas! Everything coming along nicely. Corals have responded well to the light changes with no adverse effects so far. Current lighting is at 45% intensity max but will up that to 50% in the next week or so as I edge closer to SPS strength

The overflow is actually quite good it has a separate weir with a gap between the acrylic and the glass overflow and there is a removeable lid for the weir so the anemones (and fish for that matter) actually can’t get into the overflow even if they wanted to! I don’t have a photo on me but when I get home I will take a photo which will show you :)

Good thing about these nems is they are pretty set on their location on the glass (it’s on of the ones on the rock work that is a PIA)

Monthly maintenance day complete.
30% water change
Filter socks changed
Skimmer clean
Refugium clean
Full glass clean
Pump clean
Sand clean (trying to beat this cyano phase)

And I moved all the cords from one side of the tank to the other to make it more hidden and less accessible to the kiddies - will do some proper cable management eventually.

Well it looks like Armageddon outside due to the bushfires here in Australia but it’s still a normal sunny day on the reef!

Not much has changed in the last little while just trying to get my alk stable as it’s been fluctuating with dosing - I think I’m almost there. Also trying to reduce my nitrates and phosphates as they are sitting quite high before setting up a coral QT tank for SPS.
