Those big brown/orange corals are a coral some seem to hate haha, it’s my ricordea rock!

Wow! Its incredible.
Mine has a very very long way to go. It refuses to multiply! Though I think that has a lot to do with my pistol shrimp that kept stealing the frag plug and putting it in its burrow.

This is interesting, my Acro seems to push out what I thought was stress slime but may be feeder polyps around feeding time (He was all fine and had regular PE and then the food went in and boom, white tentacles surrounding him).

Yours looks like Florida - I have a Florida in my 3’ nano that has 3 mouths and refuses to split for some unknown reason.

Well, heading off to Wales for a few days to welcome the new year with family friends!
I’ll definitely keep this updated and find some old photos, What’s better than a trip down memory lane?

Those are mesenterial filaments. It's debated whether they are a true feeding response or they're a defensive response to excess particles in the water :thinking-face:

That’s interesting to read, it may be a mix of both as the polyps retracted, although that may have just happened due to the Angel as from what I’ve read acros can ‘sense’ a predator and close up.

Isn't it cool that corals can sense other things? Like how in the world did my torches know one of my RFAs moved 8" away from them up on rock so they sent their sweeper tentacles after it? Crazy!

I know right!
My Mini Maxi used to be ’close’ to my torch (there was a good 4 ish inch) gap and some how the torch knew exactly where it was!

I thought they were yumas?
These are Ricordea yuma- Yuma is the species name whilst Ricordea is the genus name.
I have both species of Ricordea (That’s another coral I need to get a photo of when I get back) but Yuma is my favourite for the bubbles, I’d love to find some other coloured Yuma mushrooms that aren’t all orange.

Don’t worry, I used to get confused too - Now I like to do the confusing ;)

So if Silica is going to get into the tank it’s likely from the salt (Red Sea Salt using the blue bucket).
Are you sure it’s not coming from your RO/DI? Silica is one of the first to slip through once the DI resin starts depleting.

Do you get diatom growth? FWIW I started dosing silica to outcompete dinos and increase my sponge population.

I’m still praying for the next POTM theme to be stripes or yellow…
Will it likely be that? No, do I have the photo for it? Yes…
Like come on, why can’t I show off this entire photo and not just the face of my regal?

I like how the misbar extends into the dot in a more cerebriform pattern. Hope it stays like that. A perfect specimen.

Yea a perfect Indo Misbar yellow belly, you got to be specific yk :winking-face-with-tongue::face-with-tears-of-joy:
It may actually be a Red Sea - From what I’ve seen, the bars in the Indo are thicker and there isn’t as many however in the Red Sea/Indian Ocean variant, the bars are thinner and there seems to be more.

So a little off topic here you think he is going to pick the Regal? I don’t think he’ll pick the Blue Line (though I bloody hope so lol) cuz it’s a little hard to come by.
My votes on the Regal Angel, and I’m hoping he gets a different variant to mine - Not for the ‘copying’ aspect however just so I can see both variants as they age!

I have yet to have faced any algae after the early ’uglies’ phase 3 years ago.
It could be coming from the RO/DI however I replace my RO every 1-2 weeks depending on how many barrels are empty (usually in one week Atleast one barrel will be empty, in summer we can get through two barrels rather fast).
