Hi guys, I just got this colony from a lfs. Been wondering how do i glue it to my liverock? The only thing i can think of is to just place them on top of my live rock, but my wavemaker will probably blow it away.

I would recommend using a putty. I use aquaforest version of it and it works very well.

The best way to attach a SPS colony of this size is epoxy and glue. I use BRS superglue and instant ocean epoxy. The benefits of using both are you have to use less expoxy. In the past i've tried to use just epoxy but it works wonders for glueing onto the rock but not so much the coral base. For example if I am attaching a frag attached to a rock to LR generally don't need to use glue. Find a location for the coral on the rock and determine the best point of contact on the coral for glue and epoxy. Make a ball of epoxy, add some glue (for the rock side) and fix it on to your rockwork. The glue will hold it in place so it does not topple as it cures.. After few minutes, add some glue to the coral base and push into the epoxy. Superglue will bubble when it hits the water so just break the bubble by working it with the epoxy. Hold in place for 30 seconds and make sure it is secure. Sometimes you fail the first time and will need to remove the coral and/or epoxy but over time you'll become a pro. Its a process but I now use this method for pretty much every sps coral now.. Hope this helps.

For what it's worth, I find a piece of LR that serves as a good base, blue the coral to it outside of the water, then put it into the water and place the rock "base" into the rock work. This way if I ever have to move the coral or remove the coral for any reason (frag it, etc) I can pull the entire coral out easily because it's a piece of LR that's wedged into my existing LR and not some base/large piece that is too heavy to pull out with the coral.

I like the instant ocean brand epoxy, it seems to be the fastest curing epoxy I've used thus far.

I have not used any other brand I just find it fairly priced and easy access on amazon. I wish mounting a large coral wouldnt cost so dang much :)
