Newly acquired Black Sea Rod, I’ve been watching this, it moved up the sea rod, when flow is turned off it also moves as to catch what’s in water.pics were taken at black out, it’s purple like the sea rod

That's def better than mermaid. Recently was reading articles about leafy sea dragons.. would be awesome to have some.
Their care requirements are way out of "hobby level" capabilities.

But they are super cool!

Looks like some kind of basket starfish
I’m inclined to agree with this - OP, do you see a central disk on this critter like you’d find on a brittle starfish?

From what I can tell, it looks like it may be a juvenile giant basket starfish, Astrophyton muricatum. I’ve seen them called “micro basket stars” when young like this, but they ball up during the day and climb up things (gorgonians seem to be a favorite in tanks) to extend and feed at night.

It’s wrapped up tightly on the sea rod, I haven’t seen a central disk yet. I think it’s a basket starfish. A lot of long arms. Moves the arms when food goes in. It doesn’t ball up, stays wrapped around the sea rod.
