Hello dear reef2reef community,
My son and me are quite new to aquaristics. We have a freshwater aquarium with blue crayfish and we are looking into getting a saltwater aquarium for European lobster. Can anyone help by giving us advice on the full setup for the aquarium (what devices we need for it)? I am generally aware we would need a chiller, special glass for aquarium and an aerator. Now, in Europe we don't have the same brands as in US, but some rough guidelines would be welcome. Big thanks!

This sounds like a fun project! The lobster will probably want a cave as they like darker cold areas. How big do they get exactly? And you should have the Sicce brand over in Europe.

Thanks for the reply! The one lobster we intended to buy is around 40 cm long (16") and can grow even above 60 cm (24"). I just checked out Sicce. It looks great, but they do not seem to produce chillers, so coldwater sea creatures are probably not in their focus.

that wont matter for the majority of equipment you will need like pumps. Chillers will just depend on what is available near you

might want to look into some different lobsters as well. Not certain but i think Panulirus versicolor can be kept at standard aquarium temps so it might be easier to set up a tank for it if they are available near you
