Probably been answered somewhere on here... wasn't able to find anything?
I want to start a small tank for mushrooms specifically...
10-20 gallon... I've got a HOB filter i can drop some floss and carbon in...
plan on using all the extra marco rock rubble i have as substrate... (and bio filter)
AI 16 Prime lighting. An extra powerhead I can throw in for wavemaking/flow..

Anything else I would need?
Target feed daily etc...
CUC of snails....

Thoughts?

Your plan sounds good. I have an almost all mushroom tank and what you listed sounds great. 10-20g is fine. HOB works. Marco is perfect substrate. AI prime will be enough light. Wavemaker good.

What are you planning on stocking the tank with for fish? Some fish would be good to keep N03 and P04 levels in a good place / add fish poop to the tank.

You can target feed some mushrooms. Anecdotally, I have found that you can feed Yuma's, Florida Ricordeas, and some Discos. I don't know if target feeding really does anything but its cool to watch a little mushroom gobble up a mysis shrimp.

Weekly water changes are still a good idea.

Astrea, Trochus, turbo snails will all be good options for CUC. You could also add bumble bee snails to eat any leftover food that doesn't get eaten if you get fish.

From my own experience mushroom can adjust to pretty much anything but don't like change after change after change. I am referring specifically to lighting in my case. Use the acclimation setting on the AI prime and set the light schedule, spectrum, length, etc. and forget it.

Also if you have an ATO that would help. if not - I use Amazon product. They are cheap and you only need to refill every 3/4 days.

Good luck and post pics.

Good call on the ato! Need to pull my backup out... and get a new backup...

I have been wanting to add acclimated mollies to my tank for a while now. Could be really fun.

And any time :)

yes and no, it can remove/help balance, but it is made to remove chemical impurities(and physical) from the water, so we both correct :D
No, sorry. Carbon filtration does not remove nitrates or phosphates from the water. They are not "chemical impurities". If you mean that carbon filters can trap detritus and uneaten food, you are correct, but unless cleaned frequently, this makes them nutrient producers, not removers, as the organic material they trap will decay in the tank.
