So I took to heart a somewhat recent cooked tank thread, and went on my journey to try and prevent this from happening. I still want to add more to what I'm doing w/heaters since I run 2 but only need 1 to keep the tank where it should be.... Anyway.

RedSea 425XL
2 Helios temp controllers
Neptune Apex controller
2 Finnex 300 watt heaters withOUT thermostats.

1) Helios are primary controllers with a tighter temp range.
2) Apex is failsafe for tmp>80

Programming for both Helios outputs is:

Fallback ON
Set ON
If Tmp > 80.0 Then OFF

I believe this is correct for what I have. I'd like to add schedules to use one pump 1/2 the day, the other the other 1/2 of the day since either are sufficient to control the tank, and I'd like to add some sort of power monitoring to try and detect imminent failures that might be coming.

Did I get this right, miss something, something that needs to be added asap? Thx in advance!

, fish stew.

This is exactly why I purchased two helios and did a lot of reading to try and find the "right" Apex programming. There's a lot of people who say no to programming the outlets to ON, but when the helios are supposed to be controlling the heaters it seems correct to me.
