I just noticed these growing on the side of a rock that has a colony of Zoas on it. They close up inside little tubes quickly when touched. Reminds me of a fan a little.

Any ideas?

Colonial Hydroids.

These aren't as bad as Aiptasia, but they can irritate corals if left unchecked.

That's a bummer.... I think I will remove this rock. hope they don't appear anywhere else. This is only place I see them... its a small frag tank.

Will they grow all over or is there an easy way to control them.

You could try smothering the colony with some epoxy. It would basically be like putting chewed bubble gum over them. Once this hardens you can build on top of it.
