What units have you had success with for tanks in the 65G to 150G range? I have multiple and I am putting together a power failure plan. I wasn't prepared last month and dodged a bullet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

best option

two D battery powered bait box bubblers and 4x D batteries that are lithium, it'll bubble for days.

if you need to heat the tank that's where the big bucks comes into play, you'd need at minimum a $500 jackery power supply off amazon to get 24 hours and if you really want to do it right, spend a grand and get the thousand watt jackery battery backup.

I'll have a generator for power back up dedicated to my tanks. But, if that poops-the-bed, I want to be able to have an absolute minimum redundant backup plan while I get the generator fired back up.

Or pick up a Westinghouse 1.5kVa generator and 1500va ups for around 800. Pulling 600 watts will run ~24 hours on two gallons of petrol.

Other route is GoalZero Solar.

Since you have a generator I would just pick up a server UPS. Can get something like a 3000xr used for cheap. Swap in new batteries and it will run a tank for days.

I have one of those, gas generator, they're the best cuz you can run the fridge too along with the tank but you have to be home to engage it/ that's the setback. my girls at home can't power that up, move it outside, troubleshoot it's choke etc the jackery is plug and play plus you can do this trick for vacations with the jackery:

plug the heater and pumps backup into the jackery to actually run from it while you're gone

get an $11 AC timer from home depot, set it to come on (charge the jackery as it runs) every 10 hours so the unit stays charged while you are gone. it will preempt any outages that could kill your stuff while you're gone, take the unit off when you're back home as normal. it gave me very much peace of mind on my recent vacation

I just bought extras of these:

Something about a tropical storm bearing on the So. Cal region this weekend has me slightly paranoid. We're beyond due for some freakish storm event (ala Superstorm Sandy).

I can say from experience the bubblers are the simple champs for a short term power loss. I always set them up with a check valve and let'er rip.

I run a medium sized Tunze Pump at 20-25w off of a larger 2 battery computer UPS for well-more than a day.

If you want heat and lights, generator is your best bet. These help with your food and stuff too. Some have used inverters and their cars, but cars use way more gas and it is hard to go to work or the store without a SUPER long cord. If you are going to be in an area that can have many outages (hurricane, tornado or ice storm path), then a good generator is probably a good idea, but a Harbor Freight generator is probably fine for most.
